Herr - Nancy

Source: Crawfordsville Journal, April 30 1887

Died on April 25 at her home near Thorntown, Mrs. Nancy Herr  in the 80th year of her age. Mrs. Herr was born in Lancaster Co,  Pa Sept 27, 1807. She had resided in Maryland, Ohio and at  Crawfordsville and elsewhere in Indiana until 1881 when she moved  to Washington Twp, Boone Co. Mrs. Herr was a most estimable  Christian woman who was respected and loved by all who knew her.  She was always kind, considerate abounding in charity and devoted  to the welfare of her family and ready to bear her share of the  burden and duties of life. Most of her children and a number of  grandchildren and a large commerce of friends were present at the  funeral services. Rev S Sawyer of Thorntown presided the funeral  sermon from Isaiah 46:4 "And even of your old age I said he and  even to Mary hairs I will carry your I have made and I will bear  even I will carry and will deliver you." Mrs. Herr was received  into the United Brethren church nearly 40 years ago, and by  transfer of membership, has been associated with God's people  ever since she was. When her work was done, she might be taken to  her heavenly home without prolonged suffering. Her desire was  granted. Of heart disease with scarcely a struggle or the  consciences of suffering she ended her earthly pilgrimage. She  was buried in the beautiful Cemetery close by the township house  and her kindred bow with resignation to the Providence that has  taken her away and feel that "all is well." - typed by kbz
